Srinagar, Mar 15: Nasir Aslam Wani, senior National Conference (NC) leader and Advisor to the Chief Minister, on Saturday reiterated the party’s unwavering commitment to fulfilling all promises outlined in its manifesto, assuring that every promise will be delivered within the next five years.
He said this while meeting party leaders, workers, and functionaries, discussing key party matters with a special focus on public grievances and pressing issues, the party said in a statement issued here.
The meeting was attended by Additional General Secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Provincial President Adv Showkat Mir, MLA Hazratbal Salman Ali Sagar, State Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar, District President Peer Afaq, Provincial President (Women’s Wing) Sabia Qadri, State Minority Convenor Jagdish Singh Azad and Additional Spokesperson Sheikh Owais, along with other senior party leaders.
Several deputations from Srinagar, including businessmen, traders and citizens met Wani at the party headquarters, Nawa-e-Subha on Saturday. They apprised him of the hardships and challenges they are facing.
In response, Wani immediately contacted the concerned officials from various departments, urging them to address the issues raised by the delegations on priority. He also asked district administration Srinagar to immediately start dewatering in low lying areas of the city, the statement said.
Emphasising the party’s unwavering commitment to standing with the people and effectively resolving their issues, Nasir highlighted the crucial role that party workers must play as a link between the government and the people.
“The government’s greatest achievement has been in restoring the connection between the government and the people,” he said, adding that party workers must nurture that trust by bringing public concerns to light.
“The party’s goal is not simply to form a government and attain positions of power, but rather to use that power to serve the people and provide relief from the injustices of the past decade. Power is a tool for serving the people and amplifying their voices in the halls of power. It is a means to an end, not an end in itself,” he added.
The CM’s Advisor assured that the promises outlined in the party’s manifesto will be fulfilled within the five-year mandate.
Nasir lauded the 2025-26 Budget, saying it has set the stage for a new era in Jammu and Kashmir. “The government is committed to prioritising welfare, job creation, infrastructure development and investments in key sectors such as education, power, health and agriculture over the next five years. This budget marks a significant departure from past budgets, which were imposed on the people without their input. This year, the Chief Minister engaged in extensive consultations with stakeholders to ensure that the budget reflects the aspirations of the public and promotes greater participation,” he added.
