Budgam, May 04: National Conference Vice President and former chief minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday urged the voters to exercise their franchise for the progress of Jammu and Kashmir.
Omar, who is the NC candidate from north Kashmir’s Baramulla parliamentary constituency, conducted a roadshow in the Beerwah assembly constituency in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
He began his roadshow from the Narbal area to Beerwah Town. He traversed through various villages in the district and interacted with party workers and locals.
In his address, Abdullah said, “After being elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly for the Beerwah constituency, I did not have the opportunity to serve a full term due to the collapse of the coalition government of the PDP-BJP in Jammu and Kashmir in 2018. However, I utilised all the MLA funds for the development of the Beerwah Assembly constituency, which were the only available funds for me.”
The NC leader said that during his tenure as chief minister, he established block development offices, tehsils, and granted sub-district status to Beerwah tehsil, along with the macadamisation of roads in the constituency.
“I conducted this roadshow to connect with the people in various villages of the Beerwah Assembly constituency. The primary objective was to seek their blessings and support for the success of the JKNC in the upcoming Parliament elections,” he said.
“We will continue to participate in more election campaigns in the Baramulla parliamentary constituency till May 19 so that people should get prepared to cast their votes in support of our party. Upon winning the parliamentary elections, we will strive to address all concerns of the people,” he added.
Omar was accompanied by the party’s treasurer Shammi Oberoi, Political Advisor Mudassar Shahmiri, Incharge Constituency Dr Mohammad Shafi, Senior Leader Mohammad Ibrahim Mir and others.
