Srinagar, June 06: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) chief spokesperson Salman Nizami on Thursday termed the National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah as arrogant for accusing the jailed Er Rashid’s sons of separatism.
“Omar is frustrated after losing by over 2 lakh votes. People have rejected him due to his deceit and lack of sacrifices for the Kashmir cause,” Nizami said, adding, “Boycotts previously benefited the National Conference (NC), but now they are frustrated that people turned out in large numbers to vote for Er Rashid. Kashmiris believe in humanity, and they have proven it through this election.”
According to a DPAP statement issued here, the party’s leaders including Taj Mohiuddin, district president Baramulla Shoaib Lone, chief spokesperson Salman Nizami, district president Kupwara Munner Mir, Irshad Tantray, Agha Rizvi, and others, visited the family of the Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) chief who secured a resounding victory with over 2 lakh votes in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections from Baramulla parliamentary constituency. Nizami commended Er Rashid’s sons for their resilience and successful campaign.
During the visit, DPAP leaders extended their congratulations and pledged to continue advocating for the release of Er Rashid, who remains incarcerated.
“We had officially extended our support to Er Rashid, and our chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad instructed our workers and leaders to back him to ensure his victory. We are thankful for the public support that led to his win. Our next step is to secure his release so he can serve the people and represent their voices in parliament,” Taj Mohiuddin said on the occasion.
Shoaib Lone, DPAP district president who campaigned for Er Rashid, said, “We initiated the campaign from Uri along with Er Rashid’s sons, Abrar Rashid and Asrar. Despite lacking financial resources, the overwhelming public support was unexpected. The people demonstrated that humanity prevails by voting in large numbers and defeating a former chief minister. Our fight for his release will continue.”
