Awantipora, Mar 27: The National Service Scheme (NSS), Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), in collaboration with the J&K Traffic Police, organized a Traffic Awareness Programme today to sensitize students about various traffic-related issues.
Mr. Javaid Ahmad Moori, Traffic Police Officer Shopian Pulwama served as the key resource person and provided a detailed overview of traffic laws and regulations essential for safe driving. He extensively discussed contemporary challenges in traffic management on NH-44, highlighting the need for responsible road behavior. The event featured expert sessions on road safety and responsible driving, an interactive session with Traffic Police officials, and an awareness rally where NSS volunteers actively distributed informative pamphlets. The programme emphasized the importance of helmets, seat belts, and pedestrian safety.
The event was attended by Dr. Kaiser Giri (Dean E&T, IUST), Dr. Ruman Bashir (Controller of Examinations, IUST), Dr. Sheikh Jameel (Senior Proctor), Dr. Iqbal Qureshi (Deputy Registrar, Estates), and Dr. Mubashir Assistant Director of Sports, along with students, officers from the Transport Department, and ancillary staff.
In his remarks, Dr. Tariq Ahmad Ganaie, NSS Coordinator, underscored the significance of sensitizing youth about traffic norms, stating that such initiatives play a crucial role in promoting responsible civic behavior. The programme concluded with the participants taking an oath to adhere to traffic safety norms in their daily lives.
