Jammu, Dec 15: Northern Region-II (NR-II) created history by becoming the first team to secure a spot in the semifinals of the POWERGRID Inter-Regional Cricket Tournament 2024. The tournament witnessed electrifying performances on its second day, with ten teams battling it out across three grounds.
In a standout match, NR-II defeated North Eastern Region (NER) by 3 wickets. NER, batting first, managed 87 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. NR-II chased down the target in 15.2 overs, thanks to Vinod Atri’s stellar bowling performance, taking 4 wickets for 21 runs in his 4 overs. Atri was adjudged Player of the Match.
Other Highlights from Day 2: NR-III vs. WR-I: NR-III clinched a 37-run victory, setting a target of 159/6. WR-I fell short at 122/8 in their 20 overs. Md Kaif of NR-III shone with 71 runs and 1 wicket, earning him the Player of the Match title.
CC vs. SR-II: CC dominated with a 75-run win, posting 158/4 and bundling SR-II out for just 83 in 18.3 overs. Mukesh Bhakar’s 4-wicket haul made him the Player of the Match.
NR-I vs. ER-I: NR-I secured a 40-run win, scoring 167/7 and restricting ER-I to 127/7. Kuldeep Rawat’s quickfire 14 runs off 6 balls and 3 wickets earned him the Player of the Match honor.
ER-II vs. SR-I: ER-II outperformed SR-I by 16 runs. Defending their 118/9, they bowled SR-I out for 102 in 18.3 overs. Pradip Rajak’s 3-wicket haul made him the Player of the Match.
