Nowshera Forest Div distributes sewing machines among women

Rajouri, Dec 16: Nowshera Forest Division on Friday distributed sewing machines among local women and organized a pickle manufacturing training at Lower Kangri and Nowshera.
Conservator of West Circle Rajouri, Vivek Verma and Conservator Rajiv Dhiman were the chief guests at the function, while Neelima Shah Divisional Forest Officer, Nowshera and Sarpanch Roshan Lal Panchayat Lower Kangri were the guests of honor. The program was attended by PRI members, students, beneficiaries and a large number of locals.
While speaking on the occasion, the Conservator of Forest West Circle Rajouri threw light on employment generation activities undertaken by the Forest Department under Green India Mission to provide self-employment opportunities to the locals. “Forest department is continuously working towards creating livelihood options and exploring employment generation under the Green India Mission involving youth and women, especially in the Chir Zone ecosystem of J&K UT,” he said.
Conservator of Forest Rajiv Dhiman said that the creation of self-employment avenues was the need of the hour to attain the goal of a self-dependent nation and empowerment of downtrodden and poor communities of rural India.
The Divisional Forest Officer Nowshera expressed her gratitude to the people who attended the program. She stressed that these types of entry point activities will help in developing coordination between the Forest Department and local people, which in turn help in better conservation and protection of Forests.
“To cater to the employment demand of local people, Nowshera Forest Division has organized two local employment generating training programs under the banner of Green India mission which includes a one-month training course of tailoring & stitching and mushroom cultivation to facilitate diversification of the livelihood option for local people,” she added.
On the occasion, a detailed demonstration of mushroom cultivation was presented by the experts of the agricultural department and 200 bags of composed spawn mix bags were disturbed among the farmers. In addition to this 40 sewing machines were distributed among the women who were imparted one-month training in tailoring and stitching.
The whole event was coordinated by Range Forest Officer Sunderbani Rakesh Verma and Range Forest officer, Nowshera, Anil Bhagat. The events were organized by Block Forest Officer Kangri Didar Singh and Block Forest Officer, Nowshera Susheel Verma along with the active support of field staff.
