Srinagar, June 29: In preparation for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage to the Himalayan region, Northern Railways has announced the operation of two special trains from New Delhi to Jammu. The trains are scheduled to run daily from July 02 for the next two months, aiming to accommodate the anticipated surge in pilgrim footfall. This initiative is expected to provide relief to passengers planning to visit the revered Amarnath Cave in the picturesque Kashmir Valley.
According to the Indian Railways Spokesman, these special trains will facilitate the transportation of pilgrims from various locations to their desired destination. Northern Railway has made necessary arrangements for the smooth operation of these additional trains, namely the 04087 New Delhi – Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra – New Delhi Gati Shakti Special Express Train and the 04088 New Delhi-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra – New Delhi Gati Shakti Summer Special Express Train.
The Gati Shakti Summer Special train is scheduled to depart from New Delhi at 11:15 PM on July 2 and is expected to arrive at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 11:25 AM the following day. In return, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra – New Delhi Gati Shakti Summer Special will leave Katra Railway Station at 06:30 PM on July 3, reaching New Delhi at 06:50 AM the next day.
The train with AC 3 Tier accommodation, numbered 04087, will depart from New Delhi on July 2, 2023, while train number 04088 will depart from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra on July 3, 2023. Both trains will make stoppages at Sonipat, Panipat, Karnal, Kurukshetra Jn, Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana, Jalandhar Cantt, Pathankot Cantt, Jammu Tawi, and Udhampur stations.
Additionally, the 04096 Delhi Jn Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra- Delhi Jn. Special Express Train, departing from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra on July 4, 2023, will offer accommodation options such as AC 2 Tier, AC 3 Tier, Sleeper, and General. The train will make the same stoppages as mentioned above.
The first batch of pilgrims will depart for the Valley from Jammu’s Bhagwati Nagar base camp on June 30, marking the commencement of the Yatra, which is set to continue from July 1 until August 31.
