Srinagar, Feb 14: Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, outgoing Northern Army Commander, concluded his farewell visit by commending troops for their high morale and operational readiness across the Line of Control (LoC) and the Kashmir hinterland.
In a whirlwind tour, Lt. Gen Dwivedi addressed officers of both the Chinar Corps in Srinagar and the White Knight Corps in Jammu, praising their performance and urging them to maintain the high standards set. He reviewed operational preparedness in Ladakh, interacting with the Fire & Fury Corps and Ladakh Scouts, lauding their professionalism and devotion to duty.
The Northern Army Commander’s farewell marks the passing of the baton to Vice Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar, who takes charge of the prestigious Northern Command on February 15. Lt Gen Kumar boasts extensive experience, having held key positions like Vice Chief of the Army Staff and commanded units across the LoC, including the crucial White Knight Corps.
“The Northern Command is the nerve centre of our operations in the north,” Lt Gen Dwivedi emphasized. “I am confident that under the leadership of Lt. Gen. Kumar, the Command will continue to excel in safeguarding our borders and ensuring peace and stability in the region.”
