JAMMU, Aug 13: Northern Army Commander Lt Gen M.V. Suchindra Kumar has issued directives to maintain a heightened tempo of operations in the Chenab Valley, emphasizing the importance of ensuring security and safety for ongoing and upcoming events in the region.
During his visit to forward locations of the counter-insurgency Delta Force in Doda and Kishtwar on Tuesday, Lt Gen Kumar reviewed the ongoing anti-terrorist operations and assessed the security situation.
“All ranks must maintain a high tempo of operations, ensuring security and safety,” the Northern Command posted on X.
The visit comes in the wake of escalating terrorist activities in the Jammu region, with five encounters reported in Doda since June. Security forces are currently engaged in extensive search operations in the upper reaches of Kishtwar and Doda districts to track down and neutralize terrorists who recently escaped from a cordon.
Lt Gen Kumar interacted with troops on the ground, boosting their morale and praising their courage in combating terrorism. He also evaluated the deployment of additional forces being inducted into the area and stressed the importance of synergy with the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and Paramilitary Forces.
Security forces continue to face challenges in the region, with a brief gunfight occurring during search operations in Nownatta and Naagseni Peyaas in Kishtwar just days ago.
The Northern Army Commander’s visit underscores the military’s resolve to counter the ongoing threat and ensure the safety of the region’s residents.
