Non-Teaching Staff wins ‘Inter-Staff Football Tournament’ at NIT Srinagar

Srinagar, Aug 02: In a thrilling final match of the Inter-Staff Football Tournament 2023 at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, Non-teaching staff emerged victorious over Teaching Staff by winning the 3-match tournament 1-0.
The tournament was organized by the Department of Physical Education NIT Srinagar. Dr. Manoj Kumar was representing the teaching staff while the non-teaching staff was led by Deputy Registrar Administration Mr. Faisal Irshad.
The final match of the tournament was played on Tuesday and it ended with a draw (0:0). The victory was decided on 2nd match was won by Non- Teaching staff by 1: 0 and the goal was scored by Basarat Bashir (Junior Assistant Legal Cell). On July 22, the 1st match of the tournament ended with a draw (2:2).
The prize distribution ceremony followed immediately after the final match, with Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) Sudhakar Yedla, Dr. Srinibash Mishra, SAS Coordinator, along with other distinguished guests, presented the winners with the championship trophy and medals.
The runners-up were also honored for their outstanding performances and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
In his speech, Prof. Yedla praised the efforts of all participants and emphasized the significance of such sporting events in fostering team spirit and fostering a healthy work environment.
He commended the non-teaching staff for their exceptional display of talent and dedication, as well as the teaching staff for their relentless pursuit of victory.
“We have already established a strong foundation with our existing sports facilities and dedicated teams, and now we are eager to explore even more avenues for fostering a culture of athleticism and teamwork,” Prof. Yedla said.
