Kulgam, Aug 19: Muneeb Ahmad Zargar, the President of Municipal Council (MC) Kulgam, successfully retained his position after a no-confidence motion was initiated against him. The floor test, which followed the motion, concluded with Zargar prevailing with a significant number of eight votes.
Addressing a press conference following his victory, Zargar expressed his gratitude towards the people of Kulgam for their “unwavering support and trust”. He attributed his success to the “overwhelming endorsement” of the town’s residents and the dedicated voters who rallied behind him.
In the wake of the no-confidence motion, the incumbent president was required to undergo a floor test to validate his majority in office. The results of the floor test revealed that Zargar garnered the support of a resounding majority, securing his continued leadership of the Municipal Council.
“I emerged victorious in the floor test today, with a commanding number of eight votes. The opposition faced a notable disparity, receiving a mere five votes,” President Zargar said.
He extended his heartfelt appreciation to those who once again chose him to serve, affirming his commitment to enhancing the well-being of Kulgam town through diligent and focused efforts.
“It is the remarkable development initiatives in Kulgam town that have earned me the votes of confidence. I am determined to reciprocate this trust with increased dedication to the town’s progress,” he added.
