Baramulla, July 15:  Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha dispelled misconceptions regarding the allocation of land to outsiders under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY) in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a 100-seater Multipurpose Cinema Hall in Baramulla, he emphasized that those who illegally grabbed state land should cease their efforts to mislead the public.
During his speech, LG Sinha acknowledged that many individuals had approached him, claiming eligibility for the PMAY, despite lacking land. He assured the crowd that no outsider had been allotted land under the PMAY program. In response to opposition from individuals involved in illegal land encroachments and house constructions, LG Sinha reiterated the administration’s commitment to granting 5 marlas of land to eligible beneficiaries under the PMAY program.
“We have approved 199,500 dwellings for homeless families so far, including 2,711 individuals without land and 46,000 families from SC and ST categories who were eligible for the program,” stated LG Sinha.
Expressing concern, he criticized those spreading misinformation about land allocation to outsiders and stressed that such claims were baseless. “No outsider is receiving land in J&K. Those who are misleading people should stop creating confusion,” he asserted. Additionally, he questioned the sources of funds used by these individuals to construct lavish residences on illegally encroached state land.
Highlighting the administration’s dedication to the socio-economic empowerment of all citizens, LG Sinha affirmed that marginalized sections of society deserved priority in accessing government resources. He expressed the belief that the vision of “Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas” (Collective Effort, Inclusive Development) had already brought significant transformation to the lives of the underprivileged. LG Sinha also emphasized the government’s commitment to implementing a comprehensive and scalable strategy to unlock the creative potential of the large population.
Moreover, LG Sinha underscored the importance of providing land and permanent housing to the landless under the PMAY, as it would enable thousands of families to meet their basic needs and unleash their full potential. He assured these families of a promising future and reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to social justice, equality, respect, and equal opportunities for all citizens.
Earlier this month, on July 4, the UT administration approved the allocation of 5 marlas of land to landless individuals residing in the union territory under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G). LG Sinha hailed this decision as a historic moment, signifying the administration’s unwavering commitment to social justice, equality, respect, and equal opportunities for all.
