Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain on Thursday said J&K Police holds the respect for Prophet Muhammad in the highest regard and under no circumstances will we let this get hurt.
“J&K Police will carry out its duties very responsibly…Trust us, just like we registered the case immediately; we will bring this to its logical conclusion. Don’t let other elements jump into this on the pretext of this,” he said.
Addressing the press conference in Jammu, DGP RR Swain said “We have decided that we will bring a law under CrPC as per which positing of content of any kinds – message, audio, video – that would finish communal sensitivity or that would be threatening to someone will be a legal offence.
“The person who posts this would be brought within the purview of law and forwarding or sharing such content will also be a legal offence,” he said.
DGP said those responsible for posting such content will be brought within the purview of the law, and forwarding or sharing such material will also be considered a legal offense.
The DGP emphasized that comprehensive legal actions have been initiated, with cases already registered, and investigations are currently underway.
“We are keeping a close eye on the situation and collecting evidence. Additionally, we are monitoring individuals who may exploit the protest for ulterior motives,” he added.
When asked if there is a conspiracy behind this matter, J&K DGP RR Swain says, “…Those who live in J&K have been seeing for years and also have evidence that there is benefit for some people in keeping the atmosphere like this.
“If you look at the messages that are being floated on social media, many of those handles are from across the border. Our investigations over the past two days say that several people from across the border design and send this. Some people get involved in this and vitiate the atmosphere here,” he added.
