Nine Indian Army Soldiers were killed while another sustained serious injuries after their vehicle met with an accident near Kyari town area of Leh in the Union Territory of Ladakh on Saturday.
PRO Defence Lt Colonel PS Sahu told Rising Kashmir that an incident occurred near Kyari Town of Leh district after their vehicle plunged into deep gorge resulting in the death of nine Army personnel while another sustained Injuries.
He said that the rescue operation is going on at the said spot and injured has been taken to MI Hospital for treatment.
SSP Leh P.D Nitiya said that around 1645 hrs an army vehicle in which ten army personnel were travelling including the driver from Leh to Nyoma direction, met with an accident 6km short of Kiari in which the vehicle rolled down into the gorge after skidding off the road.
She said as soon as the reports reached the local police, the police team went to the spot and all the injured were shifted to army MI room. Unfortunately, eight soldiers died on the spot, while one succumbed to the injuries while being taken to Leh hospital. Death toll is nine and one soldier is critically injured.
