Jammu, March 23: On the eve of World Meteorological Day, the National Health Mission, J&K organised a programme on climate change and the steps to reduce its deterioration.
The introductory session was addressed by Dr Parvesh Kumar, Programme Manager Climate Change. He highlighted the importance of steps to be taken in this regard. The achievements, current progress and future opportunities were also discussed to sensitize the audience on climate change.
NHM, J&K organised the seminar on this year’s theme “Future of weather, climate and water across the generations”. The Chief Guest Mission Director, NHM Ayushi Sudan inaugurated the programme and provided detailed insights on this year’s theme, and shared some facts about the impacts of climate change on human health. She appealed to the audience to play their part to save the planet earth and contribute to the benefit of society.
Satish Kumar, ICT consultant from Mavis Technologies New Delhi, presented a detailed presentation on the “Role of ICT in climate change” and highlighted how information and communication technology is leading the way in climate change. Gundeep Singh from Rise Global Meteorology Department, New Delhi, highlighted the importance of the “Jal Shakti Mission” in providing clean water to households and how this mission helps in water conservation as well.
Students from JMC, Cluster University and NCC shared their thoughts on water conservation and ways of mitigating climate change.
