Srinagar, Feb 12: Jammu and Kashmir National Health Mission employees have expressed resentment against non-payment of their monthly salaries at regular intervals.
Chief Spokesperson, J&K NHM Employees Association, Abdul Rauoof said nearly 11,000 employees working under the National Health Mission in different hospitals across the UT are working tirelessly without being credited salary regularly.
“These frontline workers perform their legitimate duties without risk allowances. We urge the authorities to redress the grievances of salary on priority,” he said.
He said the employees have not yet received the salary for the last two months and they suffer due to the delay in crediting their salary at regular intervals.
“It has become a norm on the part of the government that they never release salary to NHM employees on time despite the fact we work 24/7 and contribute to all health services,” Rauoof said.
The incumbent president of the NHM Association requested the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Minister to take cognizance of the issue and initiate job security for the employees.
The spokesperson said “there is complete apathy on the part of the government and nothing is being done in this regard. The authorities are forcing us to hit the streets. We may have to take harsh steps and this is the last reminder to the government,” he said.
“We have on several occasions raised our genuine demands and grievances before but the assurances we have received proved to be hoaxes,” Rauoof alleged.
Meanwhile, Minister for Health & Medical Education, Sakina Itoo Wednesday said she has passed the directions for the release of salaries of NHM employees.
“The government remains committed to the welfare of healthcare workers and ensuring timely support for their invaluable services,” the minister said in a post on X.
