Srinagar, March 31:A fire incident was reported in the Haba Kadal area of Srinagar on Tuesday at around 2:05 PM, prompting a swift response from Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES). Fire tenders from Gowkadal, Habakadal, and Fire & Emergency Headquarters Batamaloo were immediately rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, it was found that two structures were initially involved, and firefighting operations were launched simultaneously to contain the blaze. However, due to public interference, lack
of cooperation, and a gas cylinder burst, the fire escalated and spread to adjoining buildings, resulting in a total of four structures being affected, with partial damage reported. During the operation, two fire personnel sustained injuries. The injured were identified as Mushtaq Ahmad (LFM-1367) of Fire & Emergency Headquarters Batamaloo and Fireman Fahmeed Ahmad, who was injured after a fall while performing his duties. Both were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where
their condition is stated to be stable. The firefighting operation was carried out under the overall supervision of Alok Kumar, ADGP F&ES, with senior officials present on the spot to monitor the ground operation. Authorities have urged the public to cooperate with emergency responders during such incidents to ensure timely and effective action. No loss of life has been reported. Meanwhile, an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.
