Srinagar, Apr 03: Chief Imam of the All-India Imam Organisation (AIIO), Dr Imam Umar Ilyasi, on Friday said stones have been replaced by pens in Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370.
Speaking to media persons, he said the situation in the Valley has changed and there is a sense of normalcy and growth. “I am happy to share that today’s Kashmir is witnessing a change. The situation has improved after the abrogation of Article 370. Tourism has increased,” he said.
He added that there was a time when youngsters held stones, but now they are focusing on education. “The youth are now holding pens and concentrating on studies,” he said.
Referring to the recent Pahalgam attack, he said there has been a temporary dip in tourism, but urged people to visit the Valley, stating that the overall situation has improved.
Terming Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) as an integral part of India, Ilyasi said it would be integrated with the country. “The people of PoK want to join India after witnessing development in Kashmir. They will make a homecoming,” he said.
Responding to a query on the West Asia situation, he said war is harmful for all. “War brings destruction. I hope Prime Minister Narendra Modi will play a role in mediation and peace will prevail,” he said.
