Pursuant to its sports policy of liberal support for the promotion of adventure sports in Jammu Sprawling Buds ICSE school, Bantalab, donated sport climbing equipment valuing Rs one lakh to Mountaineering Association of J&K on Thursday.
All the equipment which included climbing ropes, holds, harnesses, quick draws, carabiners, maillon rapids conform to international standards.
In a short and simple function held in the school campus, the equipment was presented by Rahul Sharma, Chairman of Sprawling Buds ICSE school to Shawetica Khajuria, general Secretary of Mountaineering Association of J&K in the presence of Ram Khajuria and Sumit Khajuria, senior vice president and vice president respectively and Sonam Sidharth, an executive member of Mountaineering Association of J&K.
International climbers Shivani Charak and Arun Deep Singh also attended the function along with two teachers of the school IshaSingh and Seema Sharma, while observing social distancing and all other safety protocols.
It may be mentioned here that Sprawling Buds ICSE School has been in the forefront to support and promote sport climbing in Jammu for the last 12 years. The school has a standard climbing wall and a finger board in its premises and it has been sponsoring sport climbing training camps at Jammu and also at the international standard climbing walls outside J&K.
It is mainly due to school’s unstinted support to sport climbing that Mountaineering Association of J&K could produce many national champions and an international medalist despite the fact that the government and JK Sports Council has neither provided any climbing infrastructure nor any equipment to Mountaineering Association during the last 30 years.
Meanwhile Zorawar Singh Jamwal President Mountaineering Association has expressed his gratitude towards the management of Sprawling Buds ICSE School for its liberal support to Mountaineering Association of J&K for the promotion of its activities.
With sustained support of the school and sincere efforts of Mountaineering Association of J&K sport climbing, an olympic discipline, shall soon become the most popular game of J&K, he hoped.
