University of Jammu ranks 51st among the top 100 Indian Universities in the list released by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
According to Dr. MeenakshiKilam, Director, DIQA, by securing 51st rank, the varsity has improved its rank by 12 places.
Kilam said that the University had volunteered to participate in the National Institutional Ranking Framework introduced by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in 2016 and had secured 64th and 63rd rank in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
Kilam said that the process involved online submission of extensive data pertaining to different aspects of functioning of the University namely teaching-learning resources, research, professional practice & collaborative performance, graduate outcomes, outreach & inclusivity and perception.
She further added that “Securing 51st rank this year after securing 64th and 63rd rank in last two years, is a step towards sustenance and enhancement of quality” and she attributed the grand success of the university in accreditations and rankings to the leadership provided by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. R.D. Sharma.
It is pertinent to mention here that the number of participating Institutions this year was more than 4000 institutions which was substantially higher as compared to the last two years.
Further, 716 Institutions/Universities had applied under the Management Category and University of Jammu submitted data with respect to The Business School, School of Hospitality & Tourism and International Centre for Cross-Cultural Research and Human Resource Management for being assessed under the Management Category.
University of Jammu finds place in the band of 76-100 institutions under the category of Management.
Expressing his satisfaction over the rankings, Prof. R.D.Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu said “the University will maintain and improve its standards of academics, research, outreach, infrastructure and student support”. Giving credit to all the stakeholders, he expressed gratitude towards Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor and members of the Civil Society for their support and guidance.
Over 1 lakh youth to be trained under JKSRLM in 3 years: Haq

JAMMU: Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Law and Justice Abdul Haq, on Wednesday said that JKSRLM has been entrusted with the responsibility of training and placing over 1.24 lakh youth with an allocation of Rs 1601.51 crore for a period of 3 years.
According to an official, he said this during a visit to various training centres to get first hand appraisal of the facilities and training being provided to the youth of the state under Himayat Scheme.
As per the official, the minister visited Teamlease Services Limited, a Project Implementation Agency imparting training to the youth of the state in various job-oriented skills including Electricals and Information Technology. 287 youths from various districts of Jammu province are undergoing training in the centre including 113 females.
The Minister was accompanied by Additional Mission Director JKSRLM Kapil Sharma, Project Head Teamlease Services Limited, Mukhtar Nabi and other senior officials of the department, the official said.
The official said that Abdul Haq visited the lecture rooms, laboratories, Computer labs and online monitoring systems installed in the training centre. The Minister also inspected the boarding and other facilities being provided by the PIA to the students.
Most of the students of undergoing batch hail from very far of places of Jammu division including Kishtwar, Padder, Doda and other hilly areas, said the official.
While interacting with the Minister, the students expressed satisfaction over the facilities being provided to by the trainers and the teaching staff of the Teamlease Services.
The Minister urged the students to work hard to get trained well in their respective trades so that they can prove their mettle in market and get jobs easily to earn their livelihood.
Addressing the students, Abdul Haq said Himayat is a skill development cum placement programme for unemployed youth in J&K under the umbrella of DeenDayalUpadhyayaGraminKoushalayaYojana (DDU-GKY), Union Ministry of Rural Development with focus on sustainable employment for rural poor youth..
Haq Khan said Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has launched the remodelled Himayat scheme last year with an aim to train the unemployed youth in different sectors so that they get employment at the earliest.
