Jammu Kashmir Saturday reported 227 fresh COVID-19 cases including 197 from Kashmir and 30 from Jammu, bringing the total positive cases to 8246, officials said.
Saturday’s cases include 57 from Baramulla, Shopian 46, Srinagar 33, Budgam 26, Pulwama 17, Jammu 12, Samba 10, Kupwara seven, Bandipora five, Anantnag and Rajouri four each, Kulgam and Udhampur two each, and Poonch and Doda one each.
Of these cases, 85 samples returned positive at the Viral Diagnostic and Research Lab (VDRL) of SKIMS, Srinagar, which tested 1383 samples during the past 24 hours.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS, Dr Farooq Jan said the cases include 40 paramilitary CRPF men, 14 from Pulwama, 13 from Shopian, Srinagar six, Baramulla three, Anantnag, Kulgam, Bandipora and Rajouri two each, and Kupwara one.
The COVID-19 testing lab of SKIMS Medical College and Hospital, Bemina, Saturday tested 395 samples of which 37 returned positive.
These include 26 from Budgam and 11 from Srinagar.
The coronavirus dedicated hospital has so far admitted 651 positive patients of which 541 have been discharged while 104 are undergoing treatment.
The hospital has also conducted 29 lower segment caesarean section (LSCS) surgeries and 19 normal deliveries of pregnant women tested positive for COVID-19.
The government said of the total 3,92,919 test results available, 3,84,673 returned negative and 8246 positive which include 2976 active positive cases while 5143 have recovered and been discharged including 68 persons discharged during the past 24 hours.
It said, so far, 2,93,355 persons had been put under observation including 40,409 in home quarantine, 2976 in hospital isolation, and 43 in hospital quarantine while 44,693 people are under home surveillance and 2,05,107 persons have completed their surveillance period.
In Kashmir, Srinagar tops the list with 1091 cases, followed by Baramulla with 1006, Kulgam 854, Shopian 848, Anantnag 717, Kupwara 584, Pulwama 534, Budgam 466, Bandipora 303, and Ganderbal 121.
In Jammu division, Jammu district has 388 cases followed by Udhampur with 288, Kathua 242, Ramban 226, Samba 168, Poonch 124, Rajouri 122, Doda 89, Reasi 45, and Kishtwar 29.
Jammu Kashmir has so far reported 127 deaths to coronavirus pandemic of which 113 have been reported from Kashmir division.
