Awantipora, Apr 03: J&K Police in Awantipora, under the ongoing ‘Nasha Mukt Abhiyan and Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ initiative, in coordination with the Drug and Food Control Department, conducted a comprehensive checking drive of chemist shops and druggists across its jurisdiction to ensure compliance with government regulations and prevent misuse of pharmaceutical drugs.
During the drive, joint teams inspected stock registers, sale and purchase records, valid licences, and other mandatory documents at various chemist shops and druggist establishments. The objective was to detect irregularities and curb the illegal sale or misuse of medicines, particularly controlled and prescription drugs, which can contribute to substance abuse among youth.
The drive was carried out across different police stations under the supervision of senior officers from both the Police and the Drug and Food Control Department.
J&K Police said such drives will continue to ensure accountability, promote lawful practices, and safeguard public health. Shopkeepers were advised to maintain proper documentation, adhere to prescribed norms, and cooperate during inspections.
