'Hamain Ast’ Kashmiri Film maker's documentary wins Astoria Film Festival award in New York

A short documentary by a young Kashmiri filmmaker has won prestigious award at Astoria Film Festival in New York.

 

Eleven minute film about snowboarding and winter sports in Gulmarg by Rizza Alee won the audience award for his documentary 'Hamin Ast' which documents 54-year-old Firdous Ahmad Chaila's journey in establishing the snow sport among youth in valley . Chaila is the one who introduced snowboarding in valley.

 

The documentary is co-produced by award-winning Iranian-American filmmakers, Shidan Majidi and Alee. The soundtracks are by Kashmir's young singing sensation Ali Saffudin.
