Poonch, Apr 01: To improve healthcare services in remote areas of Poonch district, the Health Department has installed Tuberculosis (TB) testing machines in Block Loran and at PHC as and SDH Mandi. Officials said the initiative, estimated to cost Rs 28 lakh, aims to facilitate early detection and timely treatment of TB among the local population. Earlier, residents of Loran and surrounding areas had to travel nearly 75 kilometers to the District Hospital Poonch for TB
testing, which often delayed diagnosis and treatment. With the installation of these machines in Loran and Mandi, testing facilities are now available locally, providing significant relief to people living in far-flung areas. Local residents have expressed gratitude to the Health Department for bringing essential diagnostic services closer to their doorsteps. They thanked Block Medical Officer (BMO) Mandi, Dr. Rayaz Jan, and MLA Haveli Ajaz Jan for their efforts. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Riyaz said that the
government is making every possible effort to achieve the goal of a TB-free India. He stated that installing such testing machines in remote areas will help in early detection of the disease and reduce the hardships faced by patients. He further added that any patient who tests positive for TB will be provided with complete medication and treatment under the government programme so that patients do not face difficulties during the course of treatment.
