Budgam, Nov 15: A senior leader of the National Conference and MLA for the Khansahib Constituency on Friday said that the road connectivity will be established from Magam to Beerwah, Beerwah to Doodhpathri, Tosmaidan, and Yousmarg. This development aims to link the Budgam district and its tourist attractions with Shopian, Rajouri, Poonch, and other tourist destinations in the Baramulla district.
During a press conference held in the Khansahib Constituency, Saif-u-din Bhat informed reporters that a new road will be constructed from Narbal to Magam, continuing from Magam to Beerwah and Beerwah to Doodpgathri. This infrastructure will also connect with Tangmarg, Yousmarg, Poonch, Rajouri, and Shopian, thereby enhancing the tourism sector in Budgam and neighboring districts.
“The Government of India has announced this road connectivity, which will link Budgam district with Shopian, Poonch, Rajouri, and Baramulla. The primary objective of this initiative is to promote the tourism sector in Jammu and Kashmir,” Bhat said.
The MLA for Khansahib expressed his commitment to advocating for the needs of the Budgam district with both the Jammu and Kashmir Government and the Central Government of India. He noted that the Government of India and the Ministry of National Highways have finally recognized the importance of this road connectivity for Jammu and Kashmir.
“This has been a long-standing demand of the people from Budgam and surrounding districts. Once this project is completed, it will create livelihood opportunities for thousands of unemployed youth across various districts in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
Bhat further emphasized that both national and international tourists will be encouraged to visit these destinations in a shorter time frame. Additionally, hotels and restaurants will be constructed along the highway, providing accommodations for tourists.
This initiative is part of a project by the Government of India aimed at transforming the tourism industry in Jammu and Kashmir.
“I express my sincere gratitude to the Government of India, the Ministry of National Highways, the Jammu and Kashmir Government, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, and the Lieutenant Governor of J&K for addressing the long-standing demands of the people of Budgam district and other districts. This project is expected to provide significant benefits to the residents of Jammu and Kashmir, ” he said.
