New India aims to shed colonial mindset, embrace cultural pride: LG

Srinagar, Oct 26: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Thursday said that vision of a developed and new India is to remove  remnants of a colonial mindset, embracing our cultural heritage, fostering unity, and instilling a sense of duty among citizens. These five Pran will guide us in Amrit Kaal, he said.
On the occasion, LG Sinha received the Amrit Kalash from all Blocks and Municipal bodies of Kashmir Division under Meri Maati Mera Desh Campaign and flagged off the Amrit Kalash Yatra for onward journey to New Delhi via Jammu.
Addressing the gathering at International Convention Centre in Srinagar, LG Sinha said that Meri Maati Mera Desh is also a symbol of new resolve, an opportunity for collective reflection and new resolution for team J&K.
“It is an occasion to remember sacrificial struggle of freedom fighters and Bravehearts,” he added.
LG Sinha said it is a symbol of hopes and aspirations of the common man of J&K UT. This is a clarion call of rise of a new J&K that is marching ahead with renewed vigour and strength.
“From September 11 to 30, a significant initiative was undertaken in Jammu and Kashmir where soil and rice were gathered from households in both rural villages and urban wards. This effort was marked by an impressive 150,000 special celebrative events organised throughout the region,” he said.
During this occasion, the LG Sinha dedicated 3,952 Amrit Vatikas and 4,605 Shilaphalakams across the Union Territory. 
“These symbolic dedications were made in honour of remarkable individuals who had made invaluable contributions and sacrifices for the progress and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
LG Sinha said Meri Maati Mera Desh” serves as a poignant tribute to the selfless efforts of freedom fighters and courageous individuals who made great sacrifices. 
He also expressed that the enduring flame of their sacrifices and the remarkable contributions of our charismatic ancestors in the region’s development will illuminate our path in the era of Amrit Kaal.
During the event, LG Sinha administered the ‘Panch Pran’ pledge to the people, emphasizing the need for unified efforts to achieve the vision of a developed India.
He highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has illuminated a new path through ‘Panch Pran,’ with the ultimate goal being the eradication of any lingering colonial mindset, a deep-rooted pride in our heritage, fostering unity, and nurturing a sense of duty among citizens. 
The Lt. Governor marked the occasion by planting a Himalayan Spruce sapling, known as Picea smithiana.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Junaid Azim Mattu, Mayor of SMC; Aftab Malik, Chairman of DDC Srinagar; Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to the LG; Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Secretary Tourism Department; along with DDC Chairpersons, members of PRIs, ULBs, and senior officers from the Civil Administration, Police, and Security Forces.
