‘NEP 2020 focuses on training students to be global citizens

Poonch, Dec 19: “Teachers are the real stakeholders who can effectively implement the NEP 2020 for making their students into Global Citizens,” said Deputy Commissioner Poonch Inder Jeet. He was addressing a seminar on New Education Policy 2020 “Transforming Vision into Action” organized by the Department of School Education Poonch in the premises of Shaheed Dy SP Manjeet Singh Memorial Model Higher Secondary School Poonch here on Monday. 
The seminar commenced with the lighting of the traditional lamp by the Deputy Commissioner, who was the chief guest on the occasion. Mohammed Ashraf, Joint Director School Education Poonch-Rajouri and Principal DIET Poonch were the guests of honor while Dr. Jasbir Singh, Principal Shri Krishan Chander Govt Degree College Poonch was the special guest. The seminar was presided over by Bishamber Dass, Chief Education Officer Poonch. 
N M Suri, District Education and Planning Officer Poonch, in his welcome address termed the seminar as an opportunity to explore and understand the impact and challenges of the New Educational Policy. 
Deputy Commissioner Poonch said teachers need to set goals and design their strategy accordingly to achieve the targets. He emphasized on the effective implementation and timely monitoring of the NEP-2020 so that the goals of the policy must be achieved.
Eminent resource persons including Muzaffer Hussain, Sr Lecturer DIET Poonch presented papers on Curtailing Dropouts and Ensuring Universal Access to Education and Equitable and Inclusive Education, Darshan Kumar, (DRP), presented papers on Efficient Resourcing and Effective Governance through School Complexes and Teacher and Teacher education, Ajay Maini, (DRP) presented papers on Early Childhood Care and Education and Curriculum and Pedagogy in Schools and Harish Sharma, (DRP) presented papers on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy and Standard-Setting and Accreditation for School Education.
Mohammed Ashraf Joint Director School Education Poonch-Rajouri said the NEP-2020 will not only make the students global citizens but will also improve the Human Development Index of India. He asked the teachers to equip themselves with modern technology to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
Dr. Jasbir Singh, Principal Krishan Chander Government Degree College Poonch in his address highlighted the themes of NEP-2020 which are being implemented in higher education. He asked the teachers to educate society about the policy.
Bishamber Dass, Chief Education Poonch in his address spoke on the roles and responsibilities of teachers and DDOs in the implementation of the NEP-2020. Dr. Madan Lal Sharma, Principal DIET Poonch highlighted the initiatives taken by the District Institute of Education and Trainings Poonch in the implementation of NEP-2020 in Poonch.
