Jammu, Apr 21: NCC Cadets of 2 J&K Girls Battalion from Government College for Women, Parade Ground Jammu, organised a cleanliness drive under the Puneet Sagar Abhiyan. The drive focussed on collecting plastic waste near the bank of River Tawi at Har Ki Pauri. The aim was to increase awareness among the local population about the importance of keeping rivers, canals and seashores clean to prevent contamination of water areas.
Hundred NCC cadets volunteered in this drive, engaging youth in cleaning water bodies. The cadets also installed dustbins in the nearby area and interacted with local residents and shopkeepers/vendors through a street play to spread awareness about the harmful effects of littering water bodies and their impact on the environment.
Various activities were held under this campaign, including rallies as well as a painting competition. The event was held under the supervision and guidance of Principal, Dr SP Saraswat and ANO Lt. Suman Lata.
