Jammu, Aug 20: Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President Jammu, Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) on Sunday informed that the party will launch ‘Sher-e-Kashmir Awas Yojana’ for the welfare of poor people falling under the BPL category of PRC in urban areas if voted to power in the upcoming ULB elections. He also promised that the party will provide 24×7 power and regular water supply in the urban areas and opening of health centres in all the wards of urban areas.
The senior NC leader said this while addressing a day-long convention of the National Conference Scheduled Caste Cell held under the chairmanship of Vijay Lochan, Chairman of the Cell here at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan Jammu.
He criticised the NDA government at the Centre for “depriving” the members of the Scheduled Caste (SC) and other underprivileged classes of even their basic rights.
Rattan Lal Gupta, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said that the underprivileged communities are being totally ignored and deprived under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) “proxy” government in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said National Conference stands fully committed to the welfare of the underprivileged classes including the Schedule Caste community. “After being voted to power in J&K in the assembly elections, the NC government will do away with the discrimination met to the aforesaid people by the incumbent dispensation in terms of deprivation of their fundamental rights and social justice. The rights of these communities were always protected under the previous NC regimes,” he said.
Lal said it was the National Conference that brought and implemented the law providing for land to the tillers as a result of which 80 percent SCs and deprived classes people were the beneficiaries. Even under the social justice reforms 80 percent of beneficiaries were SCs and depressed classes people, he added.
Gupta said the power was also shared with them by nominating the members of the SC community into the power of corridors by the NC regime besides bringing them out of poverty. “Today, NC assures that if the party comes to power it will restore their fundamental rights and other privileges by giving them social justice,” he said.
Meanwhile, countering the statement of LG giving job opportunities to youth, he said 50,000 posts have not been filled till date which were promised by BJP led government amid recruitment scams galore in J&K. “The government is betraying the youth of J&K which is evident from the fact that no employment has been provided to border youth as promised,” he said.
