Katra, May 12: Provincial President J&K National Conference Rattan Lal Gupta asked the party cadre to “gird up loins” to make a mark in the forthcoming ULB polls, saying the chances of the party are bright this time because people have been disappointed by the “poor performance” of Municipal Corporation, Municipal Councils and Municipal Committees under BJP leadership in the Jammu region.
He was speaking at the workers’ meeting organised by senior NC leader Tariq Butt District Secretary Reasi at Holy Town Katra here on Friday.
The senior NC leader alleged, “The Municipal Corporation, Municipal Councils and Municipal Committees have become the den of corruption and the people are fed up of the poor performance given by the incumbent helmsmen running the municipality.” He said the LG-led administration has “miserably” failed to address civic issues of holy town Katra wherein people from across the country visited in crores to seek the blessings of Maa Vaishno Devi Ji.
Rattan Lal said the Katra town was neglected on the cleanliness and sanitation front. He said people of the area are deprived of development even the pilgrims facing huge problems on account of basic amenities.
Gupta asked the people of the area to “support NC as always to once again see the all-round development and welfare of people without any discrimination on the basis of religion, language or any other distinction”.
“The National Conference will develop Katra as Model Town in which people as well as visiting pilgrims will get all basic amenities if the party is voted to power in the upcoming ULB polls,” he said.
