Udhampur, June 29: Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President J&K National Conference, on Saturday expressed strong confidence in the party’s return to power in Jammu and Kashmir, citing widespread public support and the recent performance in the Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing a daylong convention of party workers and functionaries of District Udhampur Urban, the senior NC leader said that the party will bounce back to power in J&K with a “heavy majority” in the ensuing assembly elections. The convention, as per the party statement, was held under the chairmanship of Sunil Verma, District President JKNC Udhampur while Rattan Lal Gupta was the chief guest.
Presenting a welcome address, Sunil Verma, District President highlighted the “utter neglect which the far-flung areas of the region have been confronting under the present regime steered by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership”.
Rattan Lal in his address criticised the BJP leadership for “failing” to meet the expectations of the people, which he claimed has resulted in the saffron party’s diminished vote share.
“The people of Jammu and Kashmir have been deeply disappointed by the BJP leadership. The promises made by the BJP have remained unfulfilled, leading to a significant decrease in their vote share in the recently held Lok Sabha elections,” he said, adding that the BJP knew its fate in the valley, and that was the reason why the party did not field any candidates.
The Provincial President added, “NC has always been the voice of the people, and this was evident in the enthusiastic support that the party has received during the Lok Sabha elections. The party is looking ahead to the forthcoming assembly polls with strong optimism as all the factors are hinting for its bright prospects.”
“NC leadership is confident of securing a thumping majority in the upcoming assembly elections. The people have placed their trust in the party, and the party is all set to deliver its promises,” Gupta said, assuring if voted to power, the party’s main focus would be on key areas such as employment, peace, prosperity, better delivery of civic facilities, education sector, medical sector and communication.
