Srinagar, Feb 17: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference district Srinagar functionaries on Monday reviewed and finalised preparations for observing the death anniversary of party’s former General Secretary Late Sheikh Nazir Ahmad.
The meeting was presided by District President Srinagar Peer Afaq Ahmad and was attended by all Block Presidents and Block Secretaries of District Srinagar. The meeting was held at the party headquarters Nawa-e-Subha Srinagar, the party said in a statement issued here.
Apart from organisational preparedness, the meeting was characterised by in-depth discussions on important party issues, public concerns, and the challenges faced by the people, it added.
During the meeting, the functionaries reviewed the arrangements for the upcoming annual death anniversary observance of late Sheikh Nazir Ahmad to be observed on February 24. They gave final touches to the programme which will commence with Quran Khawani, Fatiha Khawani, and floral tributes to be offered at the graveyard of the party stalwart in the premises of the holy shrine of Hazrat Malik Sahib (RA) Soura, the statement said.
Speaking on the occasion, Peer Afaq said the people of Jammu and Kashmir are heaving a sense of relief as “the doors to the power corridors have been opened for the common people, allowing their grievances to be addressed at every level”.
“Under the leadership of Omar Abdullah, a feeling of belongingness has been restored among the people, which was previously missing. This is a significant achievement of the government, and more successes will surely follow as Omar sahib is known for keeping his promises. We must continue to engage with the public and act as a bridge between the government and the people,” Afaq said, adding, “We all must work together to bring about positive change and progress in our region.”
