Visits Pogal, Offers Condolences to Tanvir's family
Banihal, May 3 : National Conference leader and MLA Banihal, Sajjad Shaheen, expressed profound grief over the tragic demise of Tanveer Ahmed Choupan, a resident of Pogal, whose body was recovered near Battery Cheshma Nallah after an extensive 21-day search and rescue operation.
Extending heartfelt condolences, Sajjad Shaheen prayed that Almighty Allah grants the departed soul Jannat-ul-Firdous and gives strength and patience to the bereaved family in this hour of immense grief.
The MLA stated that, as per credible reports, Tanveer Ahmed was chased and thrashed by cow vigilante elements in Digdole, which forced him to jump into the river in a desperate attempt to save his life.
He strongly condemned the incident and demanded stern action against the culprits. He urged the authorities to conduct a fair, transparent, and time-bound investigation to establish the truth and ensure exemplary punishment for those responsible.
Sajjad Shaheen also visited the residence of the deceased at Pogal to personally offer condolences and stand in solidarity with the grieving family. He assured them of his full support and reiterated his commitment to ensuring that justice is delivered.
The MLA placed on record sincere appreciation for the tireless efforts of local rescue volunteers, Quick Response Teams (QRT), Civil Administration, Police, and Army personnel who were involved in the prolonged operation.
In recognition of their commendable service, especially the role played by QRT Ramsu during the 21-day-long search and rescue operation, the MLA announced the provision of a vehicle for QRT Ramsu to further strengthen their response capabilities.
Meanwhile, National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah spoke telephonically to the father of the deceased and expressed deep sympathy with the family.
He assured that strict and exemplary action will be taken against those involved in the incident.
The MLA reaffirmed that justice must prevail and that no effort will be spared to uphold the rule of law.
