Jammu, May 15 National Conference leaders on Wednesday held a series of meetings with Pahari students studying at Jammu University and city colleges and sought support for the NC (India Bloc) candidate for the Rajouri-Anantnag Parliamentary seat.
The meetings were held by Ankush Abrol, Joint Secretary Jammu Province JKNC; and Dr Vikas Sharma, Secretary Central Zone JKNC & Coordinator Jammu District (Urban), the party said in a statement issued here.
Both the NC leaders visited the University and Colleges and had one-to-one meetings with the Pahari students urging them to bring about change in the political system of the country. “Under the regime of BJP at Centre, all sections of society including the unemployed youth are struggling hard in the absence of job opportunities and lack of government support for entrepreneurial activities,” Abrol said.
He alleged that the political party in power has totally spoiled the earning pattern of locals of Jammu as all the government works including contracts of sand, bajri, wine shops, and parking spots have been allotted to the people from outside JK UT jeopardising the living standard of general public Jammu and Kashmir and drastically dwindling their livelihood.
Abrol asked the Pahari youth to take part in the voting with full enthusiasm and extend their full support to NC candidate Mian Altaf Ahmed who is contesting from the Rajouri-Poonch-Anantnag Constituency.
“It is high time to get rid of the BJP misrule and its duty of youth to play a major role in this scenario by supporting the India Bloc candidate and also motivating others to follow the same,” said Dr Vikas Sharma.
“All the important positions in the UT government sector and universities have deliberately been given and occupied by officers from outside JKUT under a well-knit conspiracy to make the lives of people here quite miserable with none to listen to their genuine grievances,” he added.
He said that NC was the only option before the people for representing the issues of J&K people in Parliament.
