Jammu, Jan 20: Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (J&K BJP) spokesperson on Monday launched a scathing attack on the National Conference (NC) government, accusing it of failing to address the ongoing medical emergency in Rajouri, which has resulted in the loss of 17 lives.
At a press conference held at the party headquarters here, Gupta alleged that the NC government’s callous approach had led to the intervention of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), which had deputed an 11-member team from the Centre to investigate the situation.
“This regional insensitivity is not acceptable to the BJP, and we will not allow the citizens of the area to suffer at the mercy of the NC government, which has always prioritised regional whims over the well-being of its citizens,” he said.
Gupta criticised the NC government for its lack of leadership in addressing the medical emergency, which has been ongoing for over 43 days. He said the Chief Minister, despite being the head of the UT, has not visited the affected area to oversee the response.
“This lack of leadership will have serious consequences, and if the situation spreads to nearby villages, the NC government will be wholly responsible for this failure,” he warned.
The BJP spokesperson also accused the coalition partners of prioritising infighting over addressing the emergency response. “The coalition partners are busy setting up a narrative of counter-allegations, sidelining major issues like this medical emergency. If the coalition is not working, it cannot be settled at the cost of citizens,” Gupta said.
