Srinagar, Aug 17: National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Saturday said the NC draws its strength from the collaboration and support of the people, making them the cornerstone of the party’s vision.
He called for unity within the party and maintaining strong connections with the public to ensure the success of party candidates in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Omar, according to a statement, chaired a meeting with the party functionaries here. The agenda included discussions on political affairs, organisational matters, issues faced by the public, and the upcoming assembly elections.
During the meeting, various topics were addressed, such as party operations, organizational initiatives, challenges encountered by the citizens, and most importantly, the impending assembly elections.
“The economic crisis, unemployment rates, inflation surge, and ongoing party activities were also highlighted by the party functionaries,” the statement said. “Participants expressed deep concern over the government’s negligence towards the citizens, as essential services that were once readily available are now scarce despite public outcry.”
The continuous cancellation of recruitment processes was condemned, as it only serves to exacerbate the frustration and hopelessness felt by the youth, the statement added.
Omar said, “The party’s ability to serve the public and represent the interests of all three regions hinges on its strength. Therefore, it is imperative to prioritise the party’s growth and work diligently towards achieving common goals.
He said the National Conference remains committed to its founding principle of empowering the people and will continue to uphold this belief.
