Jammu, Apr 29: A collaborative meeting of the National Conference (NC) and Congress was held at Minitownship Jagti, which was chaired by Bushan Lal Bhat, former MLC, and Shadi Lal Pandita, convener of the Congress Migrant Cell.
The meeting delved into the historical contributions of both parties towards the advancement of Kashmiri Pandits (KPs) pre and post-migration, a joint statement issued here said.
Highlighting the enduring commitment of the NC and Congress to KP causes, Bushan Lal Bhat underscored their unwavering dedication, even in challenging circumstances. Shadi Lal, aligning with party directives, called for backing NC candidates in the upcoming elections, stressing the significance of the INDI Alliance in shaping the valley’s political discourse.
Bhat commended the initiatives of the Omar Abdullah-led government, particularly its endeavors in facilitating employment opportunities for educated KPs and spearheading infrastructure projects like the construction of two-room accommodations. He highlighted the pivotal role of the Apex Advisory Committee in addressing scores of community concerns and bridging the gap between KPs and the government.
Kaka Ji Bhan, the Jagti incharge, rallied residents to lend their strong support to NC candidates from the Kashmir Valley, while Adarsh Sangram party, led by Inder Ji Labroo, also pledged their backing to NC candidates.
The meeting featured impassioned speeches advocating for the rights of the Kashmiri Pandit community, with notable speakers including Ashok Koul, Shadi Lal Tickoo, Shriya Handoo, and Veer Ji. The presence of prominent figures from both parties, such as Vinod, Rakesh, PN Koul, KN Bhat, Ashok Bali, Varinder, Ramesh Suri, Rakesh Koul, Ashutosh, Ashok Ji, Raju Bali, and Jawahar Lal, underscored a unified front in championing KP interests.
