Ganderbal, Aug 30: Mian Mehar Ali, the National Conference (NC) candidate for the Kangan constituency, has pledged to focus on development and unity if elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA).
Speaking to the reporters at his residence here, Ali expressed his commitment to fulfilling the party’s manifesto and addressing the longstanding “divisions” among the people since 2014.
“My priority will be the development of the region, particularly in boosting tourism,” he said.
Mehar highlighted the potential for growth in Kangan’s youth, promising to open new avenues for their advancement. “There are many new private sectors coming here, whether in Ganderbal or Jammu and Kashmir. If I become an MLA, I will go everywhere to find ways to develop opportunities for the youth,” he promised.
Ali said he will enhance local infrastructure, particularly the development of parks like Preng and Manigam. “These parks will be developed to attract more visitors and provide recreational spaces for the community,” he added.
On the ongoing mining issues in the region, the NC candidate assured that he would work towards resolving these challenges. “As someone who runs a stone crusher business, I understand the problems faced by the people involved in this sector. I will work to sort out these issues,” he said.
Ali acknowledged the challenges in the constituency, such as water scarcity, electricity shortages and poor road conditions. He promised to tackle these issues head-on if elected.
“I am grateful to the party for selecting me as the candidate for Kangan constituency. If I win, I will strive to be a true public representative and do my best to serve the people,” he said.
