Jammu, Aug 06: During the ongoing pious month of Sawan, Ankush Abrol, Jammu Provincial Joint Secretary JKNC and Dr Vikas Sharma, Zonal Secretary and Coordinator Jammu District (Urban) JKNC, on Sunday organized a programme at JRC Home for Handicapped, Udhaywala here wherein they distributed copies, pencils, pencil boxes, pen and sweet items to the children. The programme was organized by Dr Vikas Sharma and Ankush Abrol was the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Ankush Abrol said, “National Conference has been doing social works from time to time and always remains on the front to help the needy persons indiscriminately.”
He said that the party president, Dr Farooq Abdullah was always keen and encourages party workers to help the community irrespective of caste, creed or color. He assured that in the future, such functions shall also be organised in the interest of indigent and needy persons.
Dr Vikas also spoke and elaborated upon the priorities enlisted by the party for the development and welfare of the masses. He said, “It is our moral duty to come together for the noble cause and maintained that his party cadre will continue to tread the path of humanity and humility.” “The National Conference has a legacy of serving the poor and weaker sections of the society which was started by Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah.”
Highlighting achievements under NC rule, especially during the times of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah, he said, “A lot of revolutionary steps in Jammu & Kashmir were initiated to inculcate the spirit of Unity, Integrity, Prosperity as well as brotherhood to work for overall development/welfare of the people of J&K, in general, and especially the downtrodden sections of the society in particular.”
Ashwani Kumar, senior leader JKNC delivered the welcome address, Satish Sharma Secretary JRC Home for Handicapped presented a vote of thanks and extended gratitude for this great act of philanthropy towards the leaders of the J&K National Conference. Others who spoke on the occasion were Vikram Gupta, Dr Rajesh Singh, Ram Singh, and others.
