Jammu, Aug 20: Natrang Studio Theatre, a hub for artistic expression, showcased its latest theatrical masterpiece “Topian” that humorously unravelled the intricate world of politics and its shapeshifting nature. Written by Mani Madhukar and skilfully directed by Neeraj Kant, the play presented a side-splitting and thought-provoking portrayal of politicians who transform as swiftly as chameleons to cling onto power.
The stage came alive with the witty narrative that shed light on the insatiable hunger for power within politicians, and their ability to seamlessly switch ideologies and appearances to woo the public. The play ingeniously depicted the tale of two neighbours on a mission to revolutionize politics, only to find themselves confronted by an endless parade of politicians donning various caps and disguises, each peddling a distinct manifesto.
As the story unfolded, the disillusionment of the neighbours deepened as they realized that beneath the colourful appearances and grand promises, the core motives of the politicians remained unchanged. The play adeptly captured the irony of politicians who claim to champion social equality while perpetuating economic disparities and failing to enhance the lives of the citizens they serve.
Abhimanyu Choudhary and Sumit Bandaral, in their stellar performances as the two neighbours, kept the audience entertained and engaged. The play’s lighting, crafted by Neeraj Kant, added a layer of visual brilliance, while Chirag Anand’s music brought depth to the narrative, creating an unforgettable theatrical experience.
With Vanshika Pandoh’s creative publicity design and Mohd. Yaseen’s seamless coordination, Natrang Studio Theatre once again demonstrated its prowess in delivering meaningful and entertaining performances that resonate with audiences from all walks of life.
“Topian” not only showcased Natrang’s commitment to using theater as a mirror to society’s intricacies but also left the audience laughing and reflecting on the dynamic world of politics and the colorful characters that populate it.
