National Sports Day 2024 celebrated across Anantnag despite heavy rainfall

Anantnag, Aug 29: Despite inclement weather, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSSO) Anantnag marked National Sports Day 2024 with enthusiasm across the district. A key function was held at Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Rani Bagh, where Principal Sami Jan Kochak presided as chief guest, and DYSSO Anantnag Raja Yaqoob served as guest of honor.
The event featured various sports and recreational activities, including an exhibition match between staff members of GHSS Rani Bagh and field officials of the DYSSO. An award ceremony followed, with trophies distributed by Principal Kochak to participants and winners. In her speech, she highlighted the legacy of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, in whose memory the day is celebrated nationwide.
Schools across Anantnag held a range of activities, including yoga, chess, carrom, badminton, volleyball, kho kho, kabaddi, and cricket. Large numbers of students participated, showing great enthusiasm despite the rain.
