National Naturopathy Day Celebrated with fervor in Jammu

Jammu, Nov 18: National Naturopathy Day was celebrated on Friday with devotion by professionals and institutions of Directorate of Ayush, J&K. On the occasion, a grand function was organised by Directorate of Ayush, J&K in the premises of Govt Ayurvedic Hospital, Jammu. 
Bhupinder Kumar, IAS Administrative Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department was the Chief Guest on the occasion alongwith Ms. Ankita Kar, IRAS, Additional Commissioner State Taxes holding additional charge as Managing Director, Jammu/Srinagar Mass Rapid Transit Corporation, who was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. The program started with floral tributes to Lord Dhanwantri followed by lightning of Diyas by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries. 
Speaking on the occasion Kumar, IAS Administrative Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department said that Ayush is perceived as one of the most ancient and well documented systems of medicine equally relevant in modern times and its holistic approach whether for healthy individuals or for diseased ones remains unparalleled. Prevention of disease and promotion of health is the main aim of Ayush.  
He acknowledged the role of Ayush systems in the prevention and treatment of Non-communicable Diseases. He appreciated the work done by Directorate of Ayush J&K for the last three years and hoped that the Ayush systems of medicine with divine healing properties will become a household name if the progress of Ayush sector in the UT of J&K remains same.
He stressed on reducing the burden of disease and related morbidity and mortality by utilizing the potential of Ayush systems andexploring their potential to contribute towards effective implementation of National health policy & National Health programmes. 
Ankita Kar, IRAS, Additional Commissioner State Taxes holding additional charge as Managing Director, Jammu/Srinagar Mass Rapid Transit Corporation, stressed on the need for integrated approach of Ayush and Modern Medicine in providing better health care system to the common masses. She appreciated the role of Directorate of Ayush for providing all essential the facilities to the patients in all the clinical departments at Govt Ayurvedic Hospital, Jammu. She stressed on the need of investment in Ayush Wellness sector which will boost herbal tourism in the UT of J&K. 
Director Ayush, J&K Dr Mohan Singh while speaking on the occasion highlighted the objectives of National Naturopathy Day. He informed that this day is celebrated with an attempt to further promote Naturopathy which is drugless way of treatment by Natural resources which in its unique way to utilize natural healing system of plants, earth, minerals etc.
He informed that an IntegrtaedAyush block has been added to Govt Ayurvedic Hospital, Jammu for strengthening the Hospital. He informed that under National Ayush Mission, the Ministry of Ayush, GoI has increased the approved funds from Rs 15.00 Crore in 2021-22 to 72.00 Crore in 2022-23, keeping in view the efficient works done by Directorate of Ayush, J&K from last three years. 
He further informed that to promote the Medicinal Plants sector as an Industry in the UT of J&K, a National caliber Institute of High Altitude Medicinal Plants is being established at Bhaderwah, Doda with an estimated cost of Rs 100.00 Crore.  
Work is under progress for Pre-requisite components of District Collection Centre with Post Harvest Management Units in the presmises of the Institute, Modal Nursery of Medicinal Plants, Seed Germplasm Centre and Demonstration Plot.
