Jammu, June 14: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri has hailed the decision of Lieutenant Governor (LG) administration asking all schools across the Union Territory to begin morning assemblies with National Anthem.
Raman Suri said, the circular issued by Principal Secretary to the Government, School Education Department must be implemented in its true spirit and, the singing of our National Anthem must mark the beginning of day in all schools. It is high time to bring back the old practice wherein schools used to begin their day with morning assemblies, physical training drills, National Anthem, lessons on moral values and many-a-times, addresses by achievers as guest speakers, which encouraged students.
Such activities, Raman Suri said, instil a sense of unity and discipline among the students besides making them identify the right role models and keeping them away from drugs and other addictions that can disturb their mental peace. It becomes the moral duty of teachers to ensure that the students’ day begins on a positive note as well as with confidence and motivation to be a good citizen and serve the country with dedication and commitment in different capacities.
Now that the government has come out with the circular, it must be implemented without any delay, Raman Suri said, adding that the students now-a-days need to be taught about their shared responsibilities, community services, moral integrity, and mental tranquility, so that they do not get distracted and are able to concentrate on their studies in a better manner.

Suri also appreciated the decision of the LG administration in asking the schools to invite guest speakers who have achieved something in their lives and can be role models for the children. Listening to the views of such speakers will enable students to adopt a positive energy in their lives and set the right target or aim. Talks on heritage preservation, environmental awareness, menace of drug, lessening screen time, and playing sports are some of the topics on which schools can begin their morning assemblies.
