Narco terrorism another major challenge in JK: LG sinha

Srinagar, Jan 30: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Monday said that apart from terrorism, Jammu and Kashmir is facing rise in narco terrorism cases, adding,
narco-terrorism is the second face of terrorism in J&K.
Speaking at an event organized by Gandhi Global Family J&K, the Lt Governor said LG said the society is facing big challenge of drug addiction and it is emerging as major issue in our society.
 
“Drug addiction is a well-planned conspiracy of India’s enemies under which Indian youth are lured towards drugs. In J&K, huge number of youth are drug addicts and aim is to push them towards militancy. Only Jan Andolan (Peoples movement) can help us to eradicate this menace, “ the LG said
 
“We could not have expected that drug addiction is being spread under a well planned strategy by India’s enemies to lure the youth towards drug and terrorism,” he said.
 
LG Sinha said in Jammu and Kashmir, large number of population is addicted to this menace. They did not become only addicted to drugs but Narco terrorism has became the another face of terrorism, he said.
 
“Administration and Police are working to overcome from this menace from the society. In my opinion only Jan Andolan (Peoples movement) can help us to get  this menace eradicated,” LG Sinha said.
 
He said we all should take oath that Jammu and Kashmir will be made free from this menace. Everyone among us will contribute towards it and it will be our biggest contribution to our society and people,’ the LG Sinha said.
Speaking on the occasion, the LG said the ideals that Bapu espoused Satya and Ahimsa – truth and non-violence, protecting human dignity, equality, social justice, respect for all religions, welfare of the underprivileged, rights of women and youth, are powerful instrument & guiding light for peaceful co-existence.
Paying tributes to the Father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary,  Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today said that Bapu’s life and teachings continue to guide the inter-dependent world in the 21st century. 
The Lt Governor appreciated the efforts of the Gandhi Global Family, J&K for promoting the Gandhian values among the younger generation and asked the voluntary organizations to join hands for eradicating the social evils.
‘’The eternal values he taught us will sustain the human civilization in the decades and centuries to come, ‘’ he said. 
The Lt Governor said that PujyaBapu’s ideals and timeless teachings have influenced world leaders to establish the society based on social harmony, syncretic co-existence and economic prosperity.
He said “ women are leading as a role model and contributing to economic development. It is our collectiveresponsibility to ensure women have access to education, equal opportunities and financial & other assistance to grow and prosper.”.
The Lt Governor also spoke on the deep bond shared by Mahatma Gandhi and Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya. He highlighted the measures taken by the government to spread Bapu’s message for social transformation and accelerated development.
Whole of Society approach is the need of the hour to fulfill the resolve of Amrit KaalKhand to create a fear-free, corruption-free and drug free Jammu Kashmir, he added.
  On the occasion, the Lt Governor felicitated the citizens and organizations for their valuable contribution towards the service of the society. A pledge was administered to building an India dreamed by PujyaBapu. Two-minute silence was also observed and Bhajans were recited to spread the values and noble message of Mahatma Gandhi.  
Padma Shri S P Varma, President Gandhi Global Family, J&K; Padma Shri Jitendra Udhampuri, renowned Dogri litterateur;  Rajinder Sharma, Mayor, JMC; Dilbag Singh, DGP; Lt Gen RK Sharma (Retd.), Padma awardees,  Devender Singh Rana, former Legislator; public representatives, members of various social organizations, students, prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
