Bridge Approach Slabs Damaged on Both Sides
Budgam, May 10: Authorities in Narbal Tehsil in Central Kashmir's Budgam district have suspended traffic movement on the Narbal Bridge near the playground after the approach slabs on both sides of the bridge were damaged.
Tehsildar Umar Bashir said the bridge will remain closed for vehicular movement for the next 15 days to facilitate repair and restoration work.
“The approach slabs on both sides of the bridge have developed damage, and repair work is being undertaken to prevent any further deterioration to the structure,” he said.
He added that the condition of the bridge and adjoining road was not suitable for smooth transportation, particularly for heavy vehicles including trucks, tippers, Sumos and other passenger vehicles.
Tehsildar Narbal has advised commuters to use alternative routes through Yarigund, Kawoosa and other connecting roads to avoid inconvenience during the repair period.
Officials said the temporary closure has been imposed to ensure public safety and to allow timely completion of the restoration work.
