Srinagar, Apr 02: A mysterious blast in a car created panic on Boulevard road in Srinagar on Sunday with police saying prima facie it appears ‘some equipment failure’.
The blast took place near ghat no. 21 on Boulevard Road along the Dal Lake when thousands of locals and tourists were visiting the tulip garden.
The blast caused fear and panic among the masses in the area. However, there was no report of any loss of life or injuries.
A Police spokesman said that the blast took place inside a Honda City vehicle registrated number JK01M 0878 on the Boulevard Road.
” Elderly couple identified as Mrs and Mr Hafizullah Bhat was in the car. Both are residents of Kralsangri, Nishat area of Srinagar,” he said.
The spokesman said fortunately the elderly couple did not suffer any injuries in the blast and are safe and sound.
“Both are safe and sound. Prima facie the blast looks like some equipment failure. Police is on the spot,” he said.
