Raamban, May 28: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, a comprehensive early morning enforcement drive was conducted in Banihal to on Wednesday to address public transport-related issues and ensure strict compliance with road safety norms. The drive was led by ARTO Kuldeep Singh, along with a team of MVI and AMVI officials.
The team continued checking drives on the National Highway and surrounding link routes to curb violations by vehicle operators. As part of the initiative, a road safety audit of school buses operated by private schools in Banihal was also carried out to ensure the safety of school-going children.
In addition to the enforcement measures, an awareness program was organised at Alam Shah Convent Higher Secondary School, Banihal, where students and staff were sensitized about road safety rules and the importance of adhering to traffic regulations. During the drive, several vehicles were challaned and seized for various violations. Another round of checking was also carried out in Magerkot, Ukhral, and Alinbass areas, resulting in the seizure and challaning of vehicles in the Ukhral region. En-route, the ARTO accompanied by MVI Vishawjeet Singh Raju and AMVI Darpen Sharma, engaged with transport operators and passengers traveling in passenger vehicles. They were sensitized about the importance of maintaining safe speeds and avoiding overloading to ensure commuter safety. Transport operators were also instructed to increase the frequency of passenger vehicles during peak hours to minimize public inconvenience and ensure timely travel for commuters.
