Muslims made arrangements for the last rites of 80 year old Avtar Krishan who passed away Friday in Wussan village of Central Kashmirs Ganderbal district.

Reports said that Muslim neighbours rushed to the house of Avtar Krishan after the news of his death reached them.

Muslim men were seen carrying the hearse to the cremation ground in the village.

The Muslim community helped the family perform the last rites of Avtar Krishan as per Hindu rituals.

“This is true Kashmir, this is our culture and we share brotherhood. We do not believe in divisive politics. We share composite culture,” said, a neighbour.

Avtar Krishan decided to stay in Kashmir valley in ‘80s when the majority of Kashmiri Pandits migrated from the region.

As news of her demise spread in the region, hundreds of Muslims, including women and children, rushed towards her house and took part in last rites.
