Jammu, Feb 15: The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL), in collaboration with Government College for Women (GCW), Parade, Saturday organised a musical programme to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The event, held at GCW Parade, brought together students, faculty members, and dignitaries to pay tribute to Patel’s immense contributions to the unification of India.
The programme was graced by Harvinder Kour, Secretary, JKAACL, as the Chief Guest, with Sanjeev Rana, Additional Secretary, JKAACL, and Dr. Javaid Rahi attending as Guests of Honour. In her keynote address, Harvinder Kour lauded Sardar Patel’s indomitable spirit and leadership, urging students to uphold his values of unity, dedication, and service to the nation.
“Sardar Patel’s vision and determination were instrumental in shaping modern India. His legacy is a beacon of inspiration for the younger generation,” she remarked. The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Ritu Mangotra, Vice Principal, GCW Parade, followed by the presentation of a memento to the Chief Guest as a token of appreciation. A ceremonial lamp-lighting was conducted by dignitaries, followed by a pledge-taking ceremony reaffirming commitment to the ideals enshrined in the Indian Constitution. A captivating musical performance by renowned J&K artist Suraj Singh infused a deep sense of patriotism among attendees. His soulful rendition of patriotic songs was met with enthusiastic participation from the audience. Accompanying him were Amit Anand on Tabla and Chandan Jasu on Keyboard, adding to the evening’s cultural vibrancy. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of dignitaries, performers, and participants who made the programme a memorable tribute to Sardar Patel’s enduring legacy.
