Srinagar, July 18: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference president and Member of Parliament from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday said the holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram, which also marks the first month of the Islamic calendar, gives the universal messages of peace, harmony, perseverance and piety to humankind.
In his message at the very onset of the revered month of Muharram-ul-Haram, Dr Farooq said, “At the very onset of the holy month, which marks the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Aaali Mukam (AS), I urge the younger generation to learn from the incomparable qualities that were in the personality of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS). The month is of great historical importance as it was during this month that the grandson of the Prophet of Islam (PBUH), Hazrat Imam Husain (AS) sacrificed his life, along with his family members and associates for the sake of the cardinal principles laid down by holy messenger of Islam (PBUH).”
Party’s Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, senior leaders Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, and Aga Syed Mehmood have impressed upon the divisional administration to ensure all effective arrangements and civic amenities for devotees at all Imam Bargahs.
Meanwhile, Dr Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday received the first batch of Hajj pilgrims who arrived in Srinagar from Saudi Arabia after performing the holy pilgrimage. He was accompanied by his Political Advisor Mushtaq Guroo and MP Anantnag Hasnain Masoodi.
Later, Dr Farooq visited senior party leader Pirzada Ahmed Shah at a local hospital in Srinagar and enquired about his health.
Party Treasurer Shammi Oberoi and Provincial President Kashmir Nasir Aslam Wani Sogami accompanied him on the visit. The party president prayed for the quick and complete recovery of the ailing leader.
